Thank you all...and such a nice surprise for the AC! I'm such a novice, I thought the "sunspots" were on my lens!

So unusual - amazing what interesting beauty a hazardous condition can bring about in a photograph. Kudos, and AC congrats. Stay safe!

That's an eerie picture of the Sun, through the smoke from the Powerhouse Fire. I'm in the San Fernando Valley, and there was a huge plume of smoke visible for a long time yesterday afternoon. I don't see the smoke now, but the fire is still out of control having burned more than 19,500 acres. When I first saw this picture, I thought it was Mars through a telescope, or the Sun through a solar filter :)

Wow! A Fantastic shot. Great Sun shot showing Sunspots thru that smoke filter.
A little smoky in Northern NM today also, as we have 2 Large wild fires within about 60 miles also.

About gon2k9z

Currently living in Somis, CA near Camarillo. I had been visiting this site for some time to check the weather, but didn't discover this incredible world of photography on the site until late 2010. I was bitten by the digital bug, and can't get enough of it! After using my iPhone &/or my husband's Rebel, I finally got my very own digital camera (Canon SX40) I'm thankful to everyone for their encouraging words on my photos, and welcome any criticism for this 'newbie' have created a monster! I enjoy traveling the world through the photos posted here...and I don't even have to pack a bag. Thank you all. Christina
