Yup! Must be that extra rain you've been getting! habitat apparently is good for these lovely little birds...For the life of me,I cannot understand why anyone would hunt them to eat...it takes so many,it's not worth diminishing their status..but as they are so hard to find anymore,,I imagine, there is not much hunting of them nowadays..thank you for writing back, and now Gil, I see something you put up I've got to comment on!!:)

Thank you very much Mindi for your great comments.
That is old sagebrush, but with all the rain we've had (a bit over 3" for Aug), all the sage brush looks very fresh and healthy.
I don't ever see Pheasants here. I know there is a few around, but very few.

Is that fresh sage brush as well,or?? You must have been excited to spot these Quail! Look how they blend in well with their environment!! what a special treat!!! We see 'bobwhites'-quail every once in a while, but not like we used to,,losing their habitat..same with the pheasants,,I have not seen one for almost two years,,I can hear one now and again when out at the park,or our acreage..have not spent any time there either..[too hot!] I hope you continue to be blessed with these natural gifts,Gil!! Thanks for sharing with us here!
