Gainesville, FL (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: The Union soldiers had set up camp and began their occupation of Gainesville when, on Aug. 17, 1864, Confederate soldiers sprang a successful surprise attack in what is now called the Battle of Gainesville. Saturday, 70 re-enactors recreated those events of the Civil War at Sweetwater Park, which is the Matheson Museum on East University Avenue and close to where the actual battle took place. from: http://www.gainesville.com/article/20130815/ENT/130819875/0/search

Love everything about this shot, EVEN those modern day iron horses. :0) So much given and lost during those times. Bless those who commit themselves to the reenactments who teach and remind us of our history, the good and the bad of it.

Well done, Marijka! The smoke from the musket fire adds an almost surreal touch to the scene!
