Wow!!! Thank you all, so very much, for all of the kind words!!! Thank you so much to the Approvers, for the new blue border!!! Much Appreciated!!! Sorry Shirley, forgot to clarify earlier =) Yep, this Butterfly is called a Baltimore Checkerspot, I found it near Silver Lake (very briefly.) I have never seen one of these in Michigan, except for one day last Summer, I did spot my first one ever...

You're right James, they are disappearing fast. I'm afraid that the Monarch butterfly will be next. The genetically modified crops with chemical pesticides embedded in the plants are adding to their demise. Beautiful shot!

About gardner48197

gardner48197

10/2014: Greetings from Michigan, where we get quite a wide variety of weather changes throughout the four seasons! Originally I found this site, for the weather, and the photos kept drawing my interest! Decided to get my first digital camera in 2010, and have since upgraded to a Nikon P530. Truly an amazing, eye-opening hobby! This is a great community, so many excellent photographers and friends, so little time! I do read and appreciate every comment and email that I receive! I would like to thank everyone who contributes, for all of the great inspiration and feedback! Sometime down the road I would still like to get a DSLR camera, but for now I just I hope to send a small view of life from the Great Lakes State. Home of the University of Michigan Wolverines! Go Blue! -James
