Nothing to be horrified about, Kt. It is a perfectly harmless shell, having served its purpose.

And the cicada (which is also perfectly harmless) that came out of it is now busy from about 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. singing its little heart out, making - together with thousands of its mates - the air filled with their song. It is a wonderful sound of summer.
