We met a horseman at Cades Cove, TN that told us of a elk herd about three hours away in Cataloochee, NC. This was my favorite because of the baby.

Fantastic, Leslie! How cool to get the whole
family. I must admit, I never thought of North
Carolina as somewhere that had elk. I'm glad they
do and that you were there to catch this shot!

Thank you Kat and you are right, we didn't know either. Much to our surprise it was a beautiful herd in a beautiful setting. I took so many photos of them all so thrilling (it was amazing to stand with them in the valley). The mountains hold many treasures that we have to seek out. It was a little difficult to get to but well worth the drive!

Arkansas had Elk in the Ponca area along the
Buffalo River. I keep saying I'm going to go
and try to get some pics :)
