Caption: Meet Enya the only foal ever born at Dusty Trails Horse Rescue. Mom, Willow, was rescued two weeks ago and was really too thin to have a baby. However, after weeks of proper feeding and vet care she delivered a healthy baby girl.

Love this! Poor mom, she looks emaciated. I can't imagine what she looked like before she was rescued.

Thank you all and yes there are so many sad hurtful stories about animals. It breaks my heart. I am glad this one is a good story with a happy ending. Mother and baby are doing just fine, both are gaining weight (6/10/12).

What a miracle! I do not understand how humans can be so incredibly evil toward animals. In my area we had a horse brutally stabbed and in another nearby location several smaller animals were also stabbed (at a pet farm). They are still looking for the culprit(s). The horse is healing well and the petting animals are doing better.

This is a touching photo.

Leslie---this is such a touching story. I knew from the icon it was a Leslie picture...I just could feel it. Such a wonderful story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, and I sure wish I could touch him, give them both a hug. You are so wonderful to rescue her, and bring that little one in to the world safely. Blessings :0) Karen

Oh, I am so glad Willow met up with some good
hearted people before she and her baby were in
even bigger trouble. That baby is a miracle
for sure. I hope they both get healthy and
do real well. Thanks for sharing this touching
story with us, Leslie! Animals are SO special
and can only do so much to help themselves.
There is a special place in Heaven for people,
like you, who help animals! Congratulations
on your new Blue!

Wow! Great photo Leslie. Thank God for people like you that are always rescuing these poor helpless animals.
Just showed it to my Autistic Grandson. Held his attention for a few seconds. Usually anything you want to show him, he just barely glances at it, and looks away. So if he looked at it for 10 or more seconds it has to be interesting!
I'll show him the others now. He loves Horses, and they take him & other handicapped kids to a horse ranch frequently. They ride horses there sometimes.

Congratulations on this great AC!

Awesome shot and series, Leslie! I'm so happy Willow was rescued, don't even want to think about what could have happened around careless owners. There are licenses for everything except parenthood and animal ownership...ok, off my soapbox*L*...great job, Leslie and I hope the Dusty Trails Horse Rescue get a lot of publicity through your photos.

I'm with Julia. So sad that someone could treat a horse, let alone a pregnant mare, so poorly. So wonderful that there are folks like you to rescue and care for them! They both do look awfully thin, but now that they're receiving proper nutrition, looks like everything will turn out all right. Wonderful story, beautiful picture and series! Congrats on your AC, Leslie!

I'm so very happy she was able to deliver
safely a filly. The condition of the mare
truly brings tears to my eyes. The thought
that someone could let an animal get to that
condition breaks my heart.

Thank God for rescue efforts and the folks
that operate those facilities.

Thank you, Leslie, for sharing this story with us.

Congratulations on your AC.
