Caption: A train navigates the famous Tehachapi Loop, an engineering feat that allows the train to gain 77 feet in the small space accorded by this little valley. The train engine meets its cars multiple times in the spirals and curves, with the tunnel allowing for a complete circle. To learn more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehachapi_Loop

I love the Loop! I've been there many times. Before it became frowned upon, I used to camp overnight between the tracks and the ranch. Been through a few of the tunnels.

Most of my photos come from the 'hood, which includes my lovely Presumpscot River and the nearby "Sanctuary" below its dam where I go to reflect, heal and appreciate the gifts in my life. Thanks to all of you who consistently find time to comment on photos, both mine and those of others. You are a community of caring photographers and friends, and I'm thankful to be a part of it!
