This is just gorgeous! Possibly the best portrait of a Heron I have ever seen. The lighting, composition and foliage around the bird really make the scene. Well done!

Congratulations on a well deserved AC!

Wow - thanks Leslie, blues, katy, wiggles, lindy, colorado, marijka, and others for the comments. I wasn't even going to post this pic because it didn't show a lot of weather, but one of the photo gods suggested I do it. Thanks again.

This truly looks like a painting from a nature book or book of transcendental poetry. Thank you for sharing such a stupendous photo; I'd never get to such a place, as I am allergic to all places hot and humid :-) It's the low humidity places with fragrance of sage that draw yours truly!

If it isn't moving too fast, I may get a decent image from it. It is fun to experiment with a camera and the images; and to read all the tips and ideas everyone else has.Been in Gainesville, Florida for over 20 years now; and love the geography. But the mountains of the West will always attract me.
