Caption: I only got a couple of shots of this guy before it went under. I think it was just as surprised as I was! I thought it was a beaver, but was informed that it was a river otter. The first one I've ever seen.

Lucky you! So glad you had your camera handy when you spotted this fellow. I've seen muskrats, but never a river otter in the wild.

I have been informed that this may be a river otter. I've never seen one in our area, but I've seen plenty of beavers, so I assumed it was a beaver.

About backwardguy

backwardguy

My wife of 40 years and I live in Hermiston OR. on a 5 acre "farmette". I have been an elementary school teacher for the last 26 years. I enjoy the outdoors and animals and I'm an avid (not a good) golfer. My wife and I take our motorcycles on long trips and our destinations are almost always the beautiful National parks in Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Utah, and last summer we added Arizona to the list. Photography has long been an interest of mine and many of my photos are taken on our little farmette, and on our motorcycle trips.
