Just got home from work and discovered the AC! Thank you everyone for the kind comments.

dd: I used a tripod of course, and set the 10 sec. delay that takes 3 shots. Also, I zoomed to 125X I believe on this one. The other one was 200X. Those are tough because you can see the moon moving in the viewer while you're waiting on the 10 sec. delay.
Thanks again all! Thanks to the approvers as well!

Congratulations on the AC! This is a nice one, great contrast and detail. I haven't yet been able to achieve such results with my new SX50. I will try using your settings, and hope for Oregon-type clear dark skies. Did you use the digital zoom on either of those shots?

About backwardguy

backwardguy

My wife of 40 years and I live in Hermiston OR. on a 5 acre "farmette". I have been an elementary school teacher for the last 26 years. I enjoy the outdoors and animals and I'm an avid (not a good) golfer. My wife and I take our motorcycles on long trips and our destinations are almost always the beautiful National parks in Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Utah, and last summer we added Arizona to the list. Photography has long been an interest of mine and many of my photos are taken on our little farmette, and on our motorcycle trips.
