Caption: After the net is drawn in a circle around a school of fish both ends + the bottom of the net are drawn tight and closed up. (" pursed " ). Hence the name, "Purse Seine". OWYHEE..... Typical Southeast Alaska Limit Seiner. 58 Feet long. The maximum length for purse Seiners in Alaska is 58 feet. This is a State of Alaska- mandated size limit meant to prevent over fishing by the fleet.
