Minor Flooding

Uploaded by: WurzelDave

Sunday February 2, 2014

Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom

Caption: Because the tide & surge was so high water welled up out the drains here, at least the council were able to pump some of the water back into the river to limit the flood! Last in series.

Beautiful lines of brick, shadow and reflections, in the midst of weather drama, still a monumental moment

What you see in the distance is a council lorry pumping the water away!

This pic taken by someone in Burrowbridge today! Twitter PicLink

The same area (but further down Jan 19th)

All train routes to the Westcountry are closed due to flooding & landslides.

The reason why the train line is closed between Bridgwater & Taunton.

I finally see some people walking, and a bus coming down the road! Geesh!

How's your personal neighborhood and friends and family doing?? You're all in my prayers!

About WurzelDave

WurzelDave

I'm a 'wurzel' who lives in South West England (UK) in the county of Somerset (next to Devon), famous for scrumpy cider, Cheddar cheese, The Wurzels (well worth going to see) & birth county of 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button.Like the rest of the West Country, Somerset has many areas, places & landscapes worth a visit such as Glastonbury Tor & Abbey ruins, Quantock hills, West Somerset Railway, Cheddar Gorge, & Exmoor, to name but a very few.Favourite holiday destiations are Iceland (see alot of photos) & the Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi Sweden (also see photos). Still a lover of the flim camera, my first camera was an Halina 110 camera which you could buy flip flashes for! I have a Canon 3000V SLR film camera, also have some TLR cameras from the 1950's plus Canon powershot A3300 & SX150 digital cameras which are useful for close up macro shots & also makes film 'last' longer!
