Overnight it seems we got off quite lightly, a few places near town had no power for a couple hours, the highest gust (recorded) was near the town of Yeovil at 75mph.
The only damage i saw on my walk into work was a couple flashings on a building had been blown off, so ironicly an act of God had done minor damage to a Christian Ministries building (the one on my walk into work).

That will be why those Exmoor Ponies have short legs, people would have to keep picking them up again, or fit them with stabilisers

We are still getting warnings for the storm St Jude down here, the winds could reach 100+ mph over parts of Exmoor. When on the beach this afternoon you had to lean into the wind! Time will tell how much of this storm we get.

Well Dave don't know about you, but I feel cheated the storm has gone waaay South of us, after all the warnings and such. Since 1987 when they got it so very wrong to the other extreme they have gone way over the top in the other direction. Well I know its a fluid situation but they shouldn't get me all excited, but then at least we didn't get any damage............yet.

About WurzelDave

WurzelDave

I'm a 'wurzel' who lives in South West England (UK) in the county of Somerset (next to Devon), famous for scrumpy cider, Cheddar cheese, The Wurzels (well worth going to see) & birth county of 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button.Like the rest of the West Country, Somerset has many areas, places & landscapes worth a visit such as Glastonbury Tor & Abbey ruins, Quantock hills, West Somerset Railway, Cheddar Gorge, & Exmoor, to name but a very few.Favourite holiday destiations are Iceland (see alot of photos) & the Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi Sweden (also see photos). Still a lover of the flim camera, my first camera was an Halina 110 camera which you could buy flip flashes for! I have a Canon 3000V SLR film camera, also have some TLR cameras from the 1950's plus Canon powershot A3300 & SX150 digital cameras which are useful for close up macro shots & also makes film 'last' longer!
