I went back to the islands for a short holiday recently after a 50-year absence. I was a a child, military dependent, when there last in the 60's. As a child I apparently never appreciated the beauty because it was all new to me this time. And as you say the windward side of the the islands with their rain forests are the most beautiful, so lush and green. Of course people looking for lots of sun will be disappointed as when we were there it was mostly overcast with frequent showers. The leeward side is definitely for the sun-lovers.
