When photo shoots go wrong...

Uploaded by: Tsurai

Trinidad, CA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This brand-new Dodge Ram prototype was the star of a commercial being filmed at Moonstone Beach, about half a mile south. Some bright spark decided to go up the beach a ways where there were some interesting rocks (something they did not apparently have permission to do). They found a rock, all right, on which the $150,000 vehicle got hung up.

randel52, I doubt we'll ever know. I doubt they'll spruce it up and sell it -- likely it will go into the crusher. On the other hand, maybe they'll make the photo shoot director buy it.

Quoting Tsurai:
Feather, they managed to get a towtruck down there on the minus tide around noon. I didn't think they could get it out that way, but the towers were very skilled. I was disappointed -- I wanted it to go out by helicopter!

LOL... well, Matt, glad they got it out and it wasn't added to all the other debris out there.... someone would have confused it with something from Japan, eh? lol

Someone has trouble coming their way! When things like that happen on beaches near me cars, 4X4s etc can only be dug out or pulled out by tractor. It happends a few times every year.

ooops..... goofballs... they see stuff on television, not understanding that it's a lot of CGI, and try it themselves... hope they got out of the truck OK. Sheesh, another vehicle lost to the sea (or did they haul it out?)

  • They should use this as a marketing tool. Film everything. Pluck that puppy out of the drink with a helli by the trailer hitch fly it over to the dry space drain the water and fire up the engine then do some doughnuts to prove what a tough truck it is. Perfect for a commercial.

One of the production managers told me this was the first time he'd ever lost a vehicle on a shoot. He was not a happy camper. It's going to take a sky-crane helicopter to get it out, after which the company will have to deal with county, state and federal agencies, especially if the gas tank and oil pan rupture.

About Tsurai

Tsurai

I'm fortunate enough to live 'way up on the northwestern coast of northern California, an area sometimes referred to as The Humboldt Nation, or the land behind the redwood curtain. Work takes me on the road six months a year, but the rest of the time is mine to surf, kayak, fish, watch birds, and of course take photographs of this remarkable region.
