What a great little cabin. I wonder if Uncle Railheel would let let us borrow it for the weekend? Just nerdy little me, my boyfriend, his best friend the jock and his sexpot girlfriend, and our friend the conspiracy nut. A nice getaway at an isolated cabin in a spooky fog in the woods. I'll bet the front door even bangs in the wind. What could possibly go wrong?

Thank you everyone for your comments and thank you to the approvers, very nice waking up to this morning.
This was a heavy mixture of fog and smoke. Evening news said it was still burning even with the rain and fog.

The Linville Gorge Wilderness ("The Grand Canyon of North Carolina") is the third largest wilderness area in North Carolina (Shining Rock Wilderness, Joyce-Kilmer Slickrock Wilderness) and one of only two wilderness gorges in the Southern United States (with Bald River Gorge Wilderness in Tennessee).[1] Maintained by the United States Forest Service, it comprises 11,786 acres (47.7 kmĀ²) around the Linville River, and is situated inside the Pisgah National Forest. The river is approximately 1,400 feet (400 m) below the ridge, thus hiking in and out of the Gorge is challenging and enjoyable for those who like serious hiking. The plant and animal community is extremely diverse, with a dense hardwood/pine forest and a wide variety of smaller trees and other plants as well as bear, fox, raccoon, trout, grouse, turkey, vultures, owls, hawks, copperheads, and timber rattlesnakes.
Popular tourist attractions in or near the Wilderness are[citation needed]:
Linville Falls, a waterfall fed by the River and free for the public
Wiseman's view, a rock outcrop near the center of the gorge that gives an excellent view of the interior of the gorge.

About Railheel

Railheel

My name is Gary and I'm a retired railroader. I have always enjoyed photography and now that I have the time I take lots of photos. My late wife of 40 years and I traveled from our home in Western North Carolina to her home in Ridgecrest Calif. one or more times a year. Our love is going to National Parks as we traveled this great land of ours. We have been blessed by seeing over 30 Parks showing Gods Wonders. WeatherUnderground allows me to visit across this country and around the world from my recliner.
