Thank you Liz! I've never seen anything quite like it in person before, it was a challenge to drive when the sand was blowing so the best bet was to just pull over & wait for it to pass - then start shooting!

Thank you Charlotte, Shirley, Cecile & Heidrun for stopping by & commenting!

We had a series of these yesterday & they seemed to follow me around town as I was trying to get up on the side of the mountain to have a better view. I ended up getting caught in 3 of them, it was pretty crazy - but at the same time amazing to see!

Thank you Approvers for the AC!!

Oh my goodness......to be caught up in this. I read Dr. Jeff's blog and he said this is what happened to those brave firefighters. Erratic winds from a dry thunderstorm downburst.....so sad

About MojaveDesertRat

MojaveDesertRat

Hi, I'm Kelley - my family & I live in the Mojave Desert, we moved here in June of 2000, from Socorro, New Mexico when my husband graduated from college. We have lived in the desert for 16 years now, which is why I chose the nickname MojaveDesertRat. I actually grew up in Overland Park, KS, but truly love living in the desert. It is much better for my lungs.... I have always been interested in photography and when digital cameras came out, my interest in photography grew. I am mostly self-taught & am learning new things all the time! I take a photos at/for our church, of my kids & their friends & especially love taking pictures of clouds & nature! My camera pretty much goes everywhere I go, my nickname at church is "Camera Girl" or "Picture Lady" by all the kids!! I really enjoy looking at everyone's photos here on WU, esp those that I still haven't figured out how to take - like lightening shots! It is so awesome to see the beauty of Gods creations through the eyes of everyone on here, at times it feels like a personally guided tour through different parts of the world!! My son has also caught the photography bug & is the photo editor for yearbook this year - his Sr year in high school. He can do some amazing things with his camera. We have done a couple of photo shoots together, taking pics of some of his friends for Sr pics & musicians websites. Thanks everyone for looking at my photos! By the way - I never load just one at a time - do any of us? It's so hard to narrow them down to 1 (or 10 for that matter) when you take 200 in one shoot!! LOL If you have hints for me, they would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your advice & comments on my other pictures that don't get seen in the regular gallery.
