Yes, Carl, we passed that Ranch, when we went on the excellent Signal Mountain Lodge float trip. Yay America-justice for all! Great balance between private property and awesome National Parks.

Thank you SO much, Gil, for your awesome comments and great visit! I appreciate you!

Tree Huggers are Great Ancestors! The Triangle X Ranch sued and won in a lawsuit that went to the Supreme Court! They are still in business just up the road!

Thanks for your great comments, Eileen! I appreciate your wonderful visit so much.

Thanks very much for the additional information, Carl! I read that part of the story too. I believe somewhere in there, Mr. Cunningham and 37 other Ranchers signed a petition in support of public acquisition, after initially being very much against. I lost my little pamphlet and can't remember exactly. I am grateful to Mr. Rockefeller for his vision and action!

The valley of Jackson Hole remained primarily in private ownership when John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and his wife visited the region in the late 1920s.[28] Horace Albright and Rockefeller discussed ways to preserve Jackson Hole from commercial exploitation, and in consequence, Rockefeller started buying Jackson Hole properties through the Snake River Land Company for the purpose of later turning them over to the National Park Service. In 1930, this plan was revealed to the residents of the region and was met with strong disapproval!
