thank you for the info. Hopefully it's a youngster that is looking for a mate and not one who lost his/her mate.

It is alone. I have been seeing it in various parts of this lake all summer, never accompanied. The bird "acts" young to me. I don't even know what that means, but I did see him one morning looking like he wanted to join in with a bunch of Canadian Geese. Of course that doesn't mean that he wasn't mated. I got another photo with him in it yesterday morning, though he was further away.

congrats on the blue...
I wonder, is it alone? If so, its mate may have passed away (though I hope not).

This is a beauty. Great that he is in such a colorful area. This would surely sell well as a large wall print. Congrats and 10+++ from SW Iowa.

I really enjoy this site. The wonderful photos I see here never cease to amaze, and inspire me. I look forward to reading the comments on my photos. I am inordinately pleased when I am awarded an Approvers Choice. I use Nikon equipment and am especially fond of macro photography. I continue to be astounded by the beauty in the miniature world visible though my lens. Additionally, I rarely have to venture very far to find interesting subjects. The Henry Doorly zoo is my favorite location. If you get to Omaha Nebraska. I highly recommend you spend some time at the zoo with your camera. Larry
