I was able to frame a few shots that I thought captured the golden sun, frost, and alien architecture of the old stumps. It looked to me like some kind of weird structures sprouting from the ice, rising up to meet the sun, or to eat it.

Ohhhh! That is BEAUTIFUL and well deserving of the AC. It's the lighting that makes the shot and the curious shapes just add to it. Well done.

I already commented on your other sunrise photo, but I can't believe anyone could give less that a "10" for either of your sunrise photos. Two of the best photos ever uploaded to WU. Everyone who posts photos here can learn a lot from your outstanding composition and excellent exposure. By the way, the two frost photos are amazing. I can't wait for your next series.

Rising to eat the sun? Dude, you are on to something. Those are the same creatures that made Mars into a desert wasteland.

I know right! I thought they looked like seals or some sea creature rising up out of the ice. And it was cold, 4 degrees above zero (I think). But no wind. I know for Katy that's a balmy spring day, but for most of us that is pretty chilly.

Wow, foleyfotos, you'er making me blush.

I have one more that I would like to share, since this response has been so positive. I wasn't sure if these were too farout.

I will post it now...

Great picture, also reminds me of perhaps sea creatures rising just above the water.

About LarryD
LarryD I really enjoy this site. The wonderful photos I see here never cease to amaze, and inspire me. I look forward to reading the comments on my photos. I am inordinately pleased when I am awarded an Approvers Choice. I use Nikon equipment and am especially fond of macro photography. I continue to be astounded by the beauty in the miniature world visible though my lens. Additionally, I rarely have to venture very far to find interesting subjects. The Henry Doorly zoo is my favorite location. If you get to Omaha Nebraska. I highly recommend you spend some time at the zoo with your camera. Larry
