Caption: I went out to shoot the sunrise and got a full (almost) moonset in the bargan. This is the first time the lake has been frozen deep enough to get out onto. I was shooting toward the bank from out on the lake. It sure was making a lot of loud banging and popping!

The ice was 10 to 12 inches thick. More than twice what is needed to walk on. But the loud noises were pretty exciting!

About LarryD

I really enjoy this site. The wonderful photos I see here never cease to amaze, and inspire me. I look forward to reading the comments on my photos. I am inordinately pleased when I am awarded an Approvers Choice. I use Nikon equipment and am especially fond of macro photography. I continue to be astounded by the beauty in the miniature world visible though my lens. Additionally, I rarely have to venture very far to find interesting subjects. The Henry Doorly zoo is my favorite location. If you get to Omaha Nebraska. I highly recommend you spend some time at the zoo with your camera. Larry
