Kennebunk, ME (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: The colors of August are evident along all the roadsides and fields. It seems that the cat-o-nine tails were just beginning to push up, and now they are swelling up, ready to burst and send their seeds flying!

Beautiful shot, Wilma. I love these purple wild flowers. They seem to be everywhere, and they are so beautiful. And those cat tails add just a hint of Autumn.

Thanks so much for looking, Katy and Gil. Yes, the purple flower is very much like fireweed, but is an invasive that is taking over the fireweed's turf. It is purple loosestrife, which grows is moist roadsides. Fireweed is pretty much gone from coastal New England. You have to go inland, and up some in elevation to find remaining patches.

I love these gorgeous colors of summer! Wonderful textures and composition Wilma. What is the flower in the front, it looks very much like our fireweed, only smaller.
