Kennebunk Beach, ME (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: It was 0F this morning, so the relatively warmer waters of the harbor sent plumes of "steam" into the air to greet the sunrise over Kennebunk Beach.

Thanks for the interest in this phenomenon, Wanda, Kristina and Jean. The ocean water is in the 40 degree range, and the air above it is at zero. The cold draws the heat out of the water, hence the "steam", or sea smoke as it is called around here.

Thanks for looking and liking, Claire and Duane! The sunrise made the world seem a lot warmer than that "goose egg" zero!

Lends an air of "mist-ery" to your beach sunrise, Wilma! You know I love sun & fog... well done!
