Greetings from a fellow Mainiac by birth! I was born in Bar Harbor in 1955, while my father was stationed in S.W. Harbor in the Air Force with their combined air/sea rescues with the Coast Guard. Finally returned in 1996 & 1998; haven't been back since 1998. Every year I say that I will go in October and every year I say, "Maybe next year...." If I didn't live on Camano Island, WA, I'd be back in B.H. As for Saco, I was there in 1998, when you had the big NorEaster. While in Boston, there was 11" rain. We were staying at the Marriott near the Charles River and I was afraid we might be washed away! Getting up I-95 was no picnic; it took over 12 hours from Boston, due to flooding on the Interstate. In the end, the sun did come out and Maine did not disappoint. Here, we get a few colors, hit and miss but we can't compare to New England, where the colors literally assault my senses! Was out today, trying to find birds and colors to photograph in this rural, marine area. I had success with each, having found a Rough-Legged Hawk for the first time (a new one for my book.) Got some of both and wishing I was in Maine...well, not this week with another incoming storm! Batten down your hatches and wishing you the best with the impending storm! You folks are tough, so I'm confident that you'll do fine! Hug a moose for me! :) Love to LL Bean, too!
