Brentwood, NY (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Storms fired and missed me just to my north both times with just a small trailing outflow boundary moving through. I was about to head home, empty handed once again when I noticed a lot of lightning starting to the northeast (moving away of course). I decided to move way behind the school and try something for the first time: time lapse the storm with a constant series of 8 second exposures. This is the result.

Yes I see the lightning bug bouncing around & a car over on the far left. It all happens so fast though.

Thank you everyone! It was another evening trying to fend off mosquitoes (unsuccessfully) in the still, warm, humid air. Could really use a real storm right over my town but that has not happened since April.
By the way, anyone notice the lightning bug in some of the images?

Riveting! The next best thing if you can't actually be there. Too few thunderstorms here in western Oregon; I'm missing that clarifying energy!

About Hurricane765

Hurricane765

UPDATED 7/5/13: Hello fellow photography lovers from all four corners of the globe! I am a 23 year old weather and nature photographer and just recently graduated from The State University at Oneonta with a Bachelors Degree in Meteorology. I have now been shooting for five straight years and have made outstanding progress in my art through various techniques, strategies, perspectives, and learning about photography as a whole. I was a photographer for the college at Oneonta in my last semester as a way of attracting prospective students but that ended upon my graduation. Also, I am planning my third local exhibition This sums me up in a nutshell so please, if you have of ~30 of my photos (though still no buyers haha). This is just a brief summary so please, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else, feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Until then, keep shooting & Keep An Eye to the Sky Enjoy my photos? I have created a Facebook Page specifically for my photography called "Keep An Eye to the Sky". All of my pictures will be there, minus the GIFs unfortunately. Please feel free to become a fan and browse through my many photos from sunsets to birds to even lightning.
