Silverton, OR (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: View of the falls from the cave behind the North Falls at Silver Falls State Park. There are about 10 falls at the park and nearly half have trails that lead you behind the falls. Multiple layers of lava flows covered the area during the formation of the Cascade Mountains. The water has eroded away at the ash layers between the flows, opening up the caves behind the falls.

These are great pictures of falls that are not well enough known. While they are all good, I prefer this one as it gives a better sense of the complexity of the falls. If the photos don't do justice, they must be spectacular.

Yes Randall, looking through all the photo's I took on our hike, I felt a little disappointed as they just didn't do justice to what we saw. Partly due to the shadows, and partly I believe due to not having the sounds of the water smacking on the rocks. Maybe I should have tried making a video like you did.

This was really something to see, the scope of the drop is shortchanged by photos. Very cool in person!
