Kalamata, Greece

Caption: For several days the weather here has been very un-Greek: wet, windy and thoroughly miserable. Friday was still wet, but Saturday was better and yesterday was wonderful - spring has come? Kampos looked marvellous in the early sunshine with a neat covering of snow on the Taygetos mountains to set it off. Excuse the 'city skyline tag' - but there is a marked shortage of skyscrapera around here.

The Missus and myself went to Cyprus once and while in the Troodos Mountains we got hit by impassible snow.
Got down safely though.
Loved the way we could pick fresh Oranges straight off the trees.

Always a pleasure to view your photos. Don't the Greeks have a Ground Hog available to predict when Spring will arrive ?

About Granddad

Granddad

We are English, (except our dogs, who are definitely very Greek, having been abandoned strays who took us in out of the kindness of their hearts). We retired to Greece in 2003 to escape the phoney political correctness endemic throughout the Anglo-Saxon world and to mix with some real people again. We live in the Exo-Mani in the extreme South of the Peloponnesus, where the sea and countryside are beautiful and the weather is also less political (i.e. they don't tax sunshine yet). The site provides an opportunity for us to bore the whole world with our snapshots and for which we are duly grateful.
