That's what we call a "sundog" Heidrun; they often appear parallel to the sun on cold days here!

Bill,
Thanks for going out and braving the storm and cold. I have been watching it on Winnipeg television weather forcast all week. While you got a lot of snow and looks like about -10F, today in illinois it was a near summer like 21.5C or 71F said on bank temp with another reading 18C or 64F so some where in there while it lasted around 4 pm the rain moved in and is suppost to change to an ice storm with even thunder and lightning too!

Hi Michael: the snow is all over now; just the clearing up to do. It is very cold though (minus 26 C this morning), and we are braced for the return of winter weather!
