St Paul, MN

Caption: I was at work when the storm hit Saint Paul this morning around 9:00am. I didn't think much of it, other than it seems like 7:00pm darkness and I am just starting out with a full work day ahead of me. I came home to quite a surprise. Well I'm sure the "surprise" "impressed" our neighbor most. Now she may be minus a tree and also minus her power for a while. though at the time I took the pictures, that power line had to be live. Her AC unit was running. Yikes!

You're right about the MN drama. It is not just weather.

The clean up process is still going. The bulk of it is gone I think, but there are still lots of branches to clear up. Part of our back-yard is filled with tree branches from the cleanup. At least we can see the neighbor's bushes again. They seem okay, though a little bent out of shape. The metal trellis she had up in the back suffered some damage when it got knocked down.

And yes I think I will play around more with the panorama feature in photoshop. I've been testing it out and so far enjoying the process, save for how long it takes. I wouldn't mind if it cooled down a little bit outside.

Great wide angle photo of the scene and damage. Glad no one or the house was hurt. Too much drama in Minnesota lately. Hope you have some nice, calm, beautiful summer weather.

The tree has been cut down now. There is still a huge mess in her yard. Lots of logs and branches need to be moved. The electric company did not shut her power down. Instead, they tied the wire to our tree and moved it out of the way of the back alley and most of her yard. Our tree lost one huge branch. (it had to be cut down.) Now it looks like someone took a bite out of our tree when viewed at a distance, but it is no big deal. The neighbor will have to get a new tree if she wants one. Meanwhile she will have to recover the expenses. There was a whole row of bushes, that now may be gone or at least badly damaged.

We had a storm like this a couple of weeks ago; came up extremely suddenly, like some one turned on a faucet quickly. The winds snapped several trees like this. Fortunately, no property was damaged but power was lost for a couple of hours. Good photo.

The evening storms seem to have left the area into Wisconsin. What is left of the tree is still standing though still doesn't look secure. That wire is still down and still live according to the neighbor. She's called the electric company about it. Hopefully it will be taken care of soon. If anyone is wondering, I got this by standing on her back steps, taking several photos, merged the photos in photoshop and then cropped.

Or could it been lightning that struck the tree and not wind? Anyways the rest of that tree looks like it will fall. I called the neighbor and gave her a warning about the rest of the tree looking iffy. It is leaning towards her bedroom right now. If it falls, that wouldn't be very good. We have another storm approaching it seems. Lightning.
