oakland, CA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Altocumulus? A sunset shot. These preceded two storms. First, the rain storm, which dumped buckets for two days and nights through very heavy fog. The fog was so dense that I literally could not see the road in front of me at all. This was followed by a three day intense windstorm that shook our house (it's still intermittently howling), tore the roof off our neighbor's home, and killed two people, one only a block from us, the other about four minutes away. Yikes! Everyone else is safe.

Thank you, everyone, and wow, thank you to the approvers for your kindness!

These storms were freaky and tragic; I've read we had wind gusts of around 65 mph; given the roof damage and the downed fences, trees and power lines, I'd guess some were higher in our area. My heart goes out to the loved ones of those who didn't make it, but even more to those in the Philippines and the Midwest.

Our neighbor will be fine. We're getting together and having some roofing and pizza parties for her and others whose roofs were damaged.

Next time I'll get the license of this truck if it ever comes back!
