That's a term I learned here, Maxine; I suppose a bit of humidity and dust in the atmosphere is what causes the sunset colors to spread out 360 degrees. I see it at dawn sometimes too.

Thanks for the info. I see this belt of color a lot and never knew it had a Name! Someone called it that in a comment on one of my shots and I had no idea what was referred to. Now I know. It's just another name for distant haze? Anyway this is a very pretty scenic. 10 from SW Iowa.
