Pilot Mountain, NC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: I was out all afternoon shooting on Pilot Mountain, but thought the sunset would be a wash. Was I ever wrong! There had been unusual cloud formations all day, and I had to stop on the way home to capture this cluster of mammatus-like clouds. I've never seen anything like it before; made me think of the Second Coming! Only very lightly saturated.

Thank you, Wanda! What I had a hard time believing is that other people were going about their business and not even looking up to notice what was going on above their heads!

It really was, Joan! It started off as a funny-looking little cloud like maybe a punch hole streak or virga, then kept developing into this ropy, streaky mass in the sky. When the setting sun colored the sky, it hit this mass and turned it to hot pink -- there was very little saturation added to this pic. Thanks for commenting!
