Pilot Mountain, NC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Saturday afternoon I went up to Pilot Mountain for the first time since the fire in October. It didn't look as bad as I thought; most large trees survived all right and even the shrubbery looked like it might return. For example, the view from this overlook appeared pretty normal.

Thanks for commenting, Kathy! I know this looks like a sheer drop, but it isn't really. Steep, yes! The pathways around Pilot Mountain are just full of views like this. I'm sorry only that I wasn't able to get out to the small dome, which has the best views of the big dome. That area is still closed for cleanup and repair after the fire.

Thank you, Mary! I just uploaded another in the series and think that will probably be enough, though I do have more.
