Thanks for adding your comment, Mindi! These red leaves are reminiscent of burning bushes (Euonymus), but actually are crape myrtles (Lagerstroemia), that have white, red, pink, lavender, or purple flowers in summer. I don't think these grow in your climate, though burning bushes do.

EXTREMELY FABULOUS COMPOSITION,KATHY!!! Now,up here,,we have these,,and we call them 'Burning Bushes',due to the brilliant reds of the leaves,,in startling contrast with some of the greens still left,,and then when they fall on the ground mixed in with the green grass,or nearby plants,,just delightful magic!! Adding this to my 'Faves' as well!!!Glad someone around here is getting great botanical shots!!:)) Got a few petunias left, some frostbit roses,a couple marigolds,,frosted as well, but some still blooming,,and now the mums are going after the cold weather last week...:(

Did see a Painted Lady or Red Admiral I think fly over the house today!! So,a few stragglers in the butterfly world as well! CHEERS!!!!!:)-Mindi

Thanks, Sharon! I brought this little bouquet of posies into my kitchen and put them in a vase after taking this picture; they kept a few days and I just threw them out today.

Thank you, Liz! I was looking for something to use on a Christmas card; kind of hard since we had no snow last winter and I already used the best snow shot from the winter before. Wonder if this would do.
