Did you ever visit the Amana community in eastern Iowa? That's where they started making Amana appliances, which are still made in the US, by the way. And the washer and dryer are the best I have ever had. The washer REALLY cleans the clothes.

Julia, you would appreciate a visit to Berea, Kentucky, a small college town, where arts and industries are taught as college classes. The whole town is a tourist destination, with lots of displays of its fabric art, ceramics, woodworking, etc. as well as shops where one can purchase the finished products. I have wandered around that town and found as many as 8 or 9 huge looms, at least as big as this one, in one large room.
