Caption: is to get a Cottonmouth Snake with it's mouth open showing the white inside of it's mouth. But, I guess if I did that, it might mean I'm close to being bit. I'm getting closer, got it's tongue sticking out :)

I remember as a kid going to a snake farm in Silver Springs, Florida, where the docent demonstrated milking rattlers for their venom, which is used for medicinal purposes. He was wearing heavy, tall boots as he walked among the snakes. Said he was going to provoke one of them to strike at his boot, and that he would pay $100 for a picture of that. Everybody got their cameras ready, he prodded the snake with his boot, and WHAM! the snake struck so quickly that not one shutter clicked.

About 30 years ago, I was at another park in MN where there were captive snakes, and it was feeding time. A live mouse was tossed into a glass terrarium with a rattler. I actually got a shot of the snake in mid-strike, mouth open, though he missed the mouse, which jumped and was in mid-air as the shutter clicked. Was a once-in-a-lifetime shot.

You be careful out there with those cottonmouths, Delana; this is close enough.

I think I might be more comfortable this close to a Rattler than a Cottonmouth.

I know I shouldn't but... Thanks Katy for the comment :)
I was zoomed on it, but still close enough, about 4 to 5 feet away.
