The series of dams on the Columbia provide not only hydro-electric power, but a lot of water to agriculture in the deserts of eastern Washington and northeastern Oregon. They probably couldn't be built today and Indians and salmon paid a high price for them, but the dams really do a lot of good for all in the Pacific Northwest today.

There doesn't seem to be a water shortage in that area. They may have to try and move some of California's agriculture up there if it doesn't rain soon in the Central Valley. Eventually, it might be just as warm.
