As I watched my two youngest grandchildren perform in their Christmas play last evening, I could not help but think of those families in Newtown CT, who will not have their children or grandchildren here for Christmas - such an unspeakable tragedy - may God bless them all!

"You want to know WHY. This may sound cynical, but here's why.
It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.
CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.
You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."
Why????? Beautiful tribute !
So glad you could have this wonderful time with your grandchildren!
CONGRATULATIONS on the BUE BORDER !!!
Jola: Thank you very much for sharing the truth
about what happens in terrible incidents like this.
Congratulations, Elaine, on the lovely AC.
It's a terrible tragedy that took place in America! Small children are angels who need to be protected!
This madman has caused great pain and grief of their families and loved ones. Lord, keep these children in your care!
Congratulations on this wonderful Tribute AC!
Jola's comment here, a lot of truth on how the media handles such tragic news. I have always noticed how some of the things they report, and I think, well that only gives someone else an idea of how to do things that otherwise may not have entered their head. My thoughts only.

a magnificent, live multi denominational service from Newtown, CT on National TV tonight..with a stunning speech from our President..the weight of so much to deal with, coming from all directions, must weigh so heavily on him.. we must make changes..hopefully many things will change for the better and healing will begin..and I totally agree with the words of Morgan Freeman quoted above..let us pray the seeds have not already been sown in another sick mind for another horrific event..and let us pray we move forward as a country to a more loving and Godly place!
Blessed are the little children ...for of such is the kingdom of heaven ((( ♥ )))
I haven't seen the news since last Thursday so knew nothing of this til i saw a dedication on WU yesterday. Superb shot & sentiment, congrats.
