Stoughton, WI (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: I got up, made coffee, hit the road for the lake and the colors I expected. Disappointed so headed home and got half mile, couple minutes, and saw finally the brilliant red ball of the sun. Time!! So I pulled over and shot over the houses.. two problems: the sun did not turn out red, and that doggone flare. I always get them. I notice its location varies, and I believe its from how I center the sun. Must work on this..

Beautiful shot Betty. I don't seem to have much problem with the sun flare, tho I hardly ever point it at the sun. Most times my sunset shots are after the sun has gone down below the horizon, or else thru some clouds covering the sun.
I do have that flare problem with the moon shots more than sun shots.
I use the eye viewer, (diopter) and I can see where the flare is gonna be at, if there is one. In this case if I would see it, I would angle the camera just slightly and put that flare right over the sun and snap. Doesn't always work, but does help.

Caution: Dangerous to look directly at the Sun thru the camera! Eye Damage.

Nice Shot ! I have found the faster the shutter speed the less "sun glare" is a problem.

Does make a nice shot, someone told me not to point directly at the sun. Not sure if that would work but you can try.
