AMAZING CLOUD LIGHTNING T-STORM FORMATION!

Uploaded by: BEME

Friday June 14, 2013

shenandoah, IA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Storms brewing all evening to the west, east, and northwest, moving ever-so-slowly our way. This was taken at 10:05 pm over an hour ago.Shelf/wall cloud and mammatus above,,some moderate winds pulled in,,a brief rain,,and thunder now rumbling in the area...I have NEVER! Seen this kind of formation day,or night in our town.[Shenandoah,Iowa]..very impressive light show within the clouds,,mostly heat,cloud-cloud-horizontal,and some curled, some verticals..getting some deeper thunder 'booms' now....

THANKS AGAIN WEATHER FRIENDS!! All I can think of,,is that some element between the Mammatus above, and the shelf below, wedged in between eventually to 'break' up the shelf formation. Since I am not a meteorologist [funny name that,,I think of Comets, and, well,,Meteors,,not weather?? :)] I can only guess at the dynamics here. One photo makes me think of big old sailing ships caught in the tempest of some Sci-Fi moment..I certainly enjoyed with awe and wonder this free show..and grateful it did not turn into a damage on the ground event here!

HI!! Well,,,after looking at the radar when we got back home, there was a big 'BOW' of storms.Mostly alot of cloud lightning deep within and top..could only see the cloud formations when there was enough bright lightning to illuminate these,,but there was I guess you could say, horizontal layers as the lead of the storm approached, heaviest part moving east-northeast..so far, have not heard of any tornado or damage reports..Wind picked up some, and it rained,,thought it would be bad,but it wasn't here in town at least.I'll put a couple other shots up to clarify the clouds. Thanks for your comments! :)

Interesting clouds. We couldn't see the sky for the trees. I tried out my KWS-kitchen window studio- and all I got were some tree silhouettes. Nice. 10 from behind the trees.

I KNOW,RIGHT???? VERY STRANGE weather this evening,,and the lighting deep within the shelf would somehow move above the mammatus clouds around it,,amazing light show! Wished I'd had a video of it! Oh well....raining moderately now..and thunder some.

About BEME

BEME

Hi KIDDIES!!! O.K.,,there seems to be a bit of confusion about this photo,,,I AM on the left,,a gal!![MINDI],,and the right-hand pic is of BOB my hubby!! I cloned the two images together,,of us taking pics of each other,,so we could give you folks an idea of who we are,,replacing the previous photo of our two favorite eagle family youngsters...We live in Shenandoah,Ia.,,and enjoy [especially me] taking lots of pictures!! I do most of the posting on here,,that's MY thing..and I try to put up Bobs when he takes some good ones...I would also like for you to check out the older ones from time,to time,,I like to share my images,,though not always the greatest,,just to give you an idea what life is sometimes like here in S.W. Iowa.. I came out here from the East Coast and interior New England, where I lived until 1992,,I also lived in Philly for a few years, and Bob is born and raised here in Shenandoah.,,but loves other places that we have visited too. I am happy to have found this site to learn how to take better photos,,meet new people, and make new friends, and be dazzled by what folks share of their 'world'in pictures on here. THANK YOU WuNDERGROUND! I appreciate all your kind words and mail, and critique as much as I enjoy giving back in kind! SHARE THE LOVE!!
