shenandoah, IA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Now that their 'wee ones' are out and about,,we were surprised at how fast they make them leave the nest!! We can hear them sometimes in the trees and beyond..I hope they all made it [3]...They are some of the best parents I've seen in the backyard bird environment...

Oh, my, they are fantastic, Mindi! Thank You!
They are so beautiful! Next time you see them,
ask if they have any adventurous friends who would
like to relocate to Colorado. I have a nice yard
with lots of trees and I'll get them whatever kind
of seed they want. No need to RSVP..just show up!

Thank You Friends!! This is a rare scene for me to catch..they are always around, but I have never captured them together, until they had 'kids' on the porch...I have not seen any further activity to the nest,,was not sure if they would have another batch or not,,is so,,our inside/outside [who prefers outside] cat will NOT be pleased,AT ALL!!! I let him out briefly last nite, thinking most of the 'babies from all the birds might be off the ground,,but I guess not,,I put him back in,much to his strong protest,,:) Larry,I also love these, and meadowloarks,,another hard bird to get good close-ups,,they,like most of the 'pretty birds' are elusive when you get too close..I have observed that 'Mommy' feeds the little ones for quite some time..I see more female young, than male..I don't have any pix of young males..maybe this year..:)

LOVELY context and shot, Mindi! Kat will love this! The tiny blue flowers are so complementary to the bright Cardinal color. 10!

Great shot! They are interesting to watch! It
is like Daddy Cardinal has a calendar that he
marks off the days. After fledging Daddy tends
and feeds babies for 12 days while Mom is
readying the nest and getting on with new
batch. After that 12th day, Daddy no longer
feeds the babies - will chase them away! My
cardinals have not brought any babies to the
feeder as yet. Thank you for sharing this photo!

Great capture of the proud parents. I wonder how long they will feed them after they are out of the nest?

About BEME

BEME

Hi KIDDIES!!! O.K.,,there seems to be a bit of confusion about this photo,,,I AM on the left,,a gal!![MINDI],,and the right-hand pic is of BOB my hubby!! I cloned the two images together,,of us taking pics of each other,,so we could give you folks an idea of who we are,,replacing the previous photo of our two favorite eagle family youngsters...We live in Shenandoah,Ia.,,and enjoy [especially me] taking lots of pictures!! I do most of the posting on here,,that's MY thing..and I try to put up Bobs when he takes some good ones...I would also like for you to check out the older ones from time,to time,,I like to share my images,,though not always the greatest,,just to give you an idea what life is sometimes like here in S.W. Iowa.. I came out here from the East Coast and interior New England, where I lived until 1992,,I also lived in Philly for a few years, and Bob is born and raised here in Shenandoah.,,but loves other places that we have visited too. I am happy to have found this site to learn how to take better photos,,meet new people, and make new friends, and be dazzled by what folks share of their 'world'in pictures on here. THANK YOU WuNDERGROUND! I appreciate all your kind words and mail, and critique as much as I enjoy giving back in kind! SHARE THE LOVE!!
