Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 am CST Thursday... A large area of freezing rain mixed with sleet continues to develop across the West Texas...from near Sterling City to Abilene. This area is moving to the east around 15 mph. Temperatures will continue to fall and will reach below freezing by 4 to 5 PM for most areas. Sleet and ice will begin to accumulate on roads and make driving hazardous. Conditions will continue to deteriorate tonight. Try to get home as soon as you can this afternoon and do not venture out this evening unless absolutely necessary.

afternoon to 6 am CST Thursday.

* Impacts: slick and hazardous roadways will create dangerous
driving conditions.

* Timing: 4 PM CST today until 6 am CST Thursday.

* Accumulations: up to 1/10 inch of ice... with less than 1 inch
of sleet and snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while
driving.

National Weather Service Doppler radar continues to show an
expanding area of precipitation... with a few embedded
thunderstorms... to the west of a line from Anson... to Mertzon. This
area of precipitation will reach a San Angelo... to Abilene line by
7:30 PM. A mix of freezing rain... sleet... and snow can be
expected. Locally heaver bursts of this wintry precipitation are
possible... especially if thunderstorms continue to develop. As
temperatures continue to drop... icy conditions will develop on area
roads... especially bridges and overpasses.
