The National Weather Service in Wichita has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
Sedgwick County in south central Kansas...

* until 1000 am CDT Tuesday

* at 951 PM CDT... local law enforcement reported flooding in western
portions of Sedgwick County. Low water crossings in southern
Sedgwick County may be flooded as well. 2 to 3 inches of rainfall
has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita... Derby... Andover... Haysville... Mulvane... Goddard... Rose
Hill... Clearwater... Cheney... Garden Plain... downtown Wichita...
Andale... Eastborough... Viola... west Wichita... McConnell Air Force
base... south Wichita... Wichita eisenhower National Airport... east
Wichita and Lake Afton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses in urban areas.
Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of
creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to

northeastern Sedgwick County in south central Kansas...

* until 915 am CDT Tuesday

* at 915 PM CDT... local law enforcement reported flooding across
the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita... Park city... Valley Center... Bel Aire... Maize...
Sedgwick... Colwich... Mount Hope... Kechi... Bentley... west Wichita...
northeast Wichita and jabara Airport.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to

Montgomery... Neosho... Wilson and Woodson.

* Through Wednesday evening.

* Heavy rain is possible over southeast Kansas this evening... and
over all of the watch area later on Tuesday and Wednesday.

* Rivers and streams may rise with flash flooding a possibility.
