Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 8:49 AM CST on March 03, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST this
evening...

* short term trends... freezing drizzle will persist this morning
before likely changing to snow showers later this afternoon.
Increasing winds during the showers may also lead to blowing
snow and reduced visibility.

* Storm total snow accumulations... around one inch.

* Winds/visibility... northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts
over 40 mph are likely to cause periods of visibility
restrictions of less than one half mile at times during the
afternoon hours.

* Impacts... a minor glazing of ice will occur on most surfaces
this morning followed by brief periods of snow squalls this
afternoon. Roads will be slick through much of the day and
blowing snow may eventually cause significant visibility
restrictions as well.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be
prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and
use caution while driving.

Any reports of snow accumulations are much appreciated and can be
relayed directly to the National Weather Service using twitter
handle NWS Des Moines... hashtag nwsdmx or Post to the NWS Des
Moines facebook Page.
