Nowcast | as of 9:20 am EDT on August 20, 2014

A band of showers and thunderstorms will continue to slide southeast across parts of the Interstate 77 corridor through 1015 am. Very heavy rainfall will accompany some of the storms with locally up to an inch of rain possible. The strongest storms should affect spots from Rural Retreat and Cripple Creek southwest to Comers Rock and Elk Creek in Virginia. Other heavier downpours can be expected over much of Ashe County in North Carolina. Gusty winds to 35 mph along with occasional lightning will also occur.
