Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 4:15 AM EST on March 01, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from noon today to 7 am EST
Monday...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory... which is in effect from noon today to 7 am EST
Monday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations... Cape Cod

* hazard types... wet snow.

* Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches of snow with the highest amounts
most likely near the Cape Cod canal.

* Timing... areas of light snow will develop this afternoon. The
snow will increase in intensity this evening falling moderate to
heavy at times. The bulk of the accumulating snow will occur
between 4 PM and 1 am... when snowfall rates may be on the order
of 1 inch per hour. The snow may mix with or change to rain for
a time... with the highest risk for that across the Outer-Cape.
The snow or mixed precipitation will taper off to flurries
toward daybreak Monday.

* Impacts... untreated roads will become snow covered and slippery
by this evening evening along with poor visibility at times.
Given temperatures near freezing... the snow will be of a wet
variety. This may exacerbate any on going roof problems.

* Uncertainty... it remains uncertain if all the precipitation will
fall as wet snow or change to rain for a time late tonight. If
it ends up staying all snow... accumulations may have to be
increased especially near the Cape Cod canal.

* Winds... southwest 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Visibilities... one half mile or less at times.

* Temperatures... in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is
forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are
expected to be light. Any snow or ice would result in slippery
conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When
temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially
careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily
develop.
