... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST this
evening...

* locations... foothills into the Piedmont of Virginia.

* Hazard types... sleet and snow.

* Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation of up to 2
inches... with locally higher amounts along Highway 460 from
Lynchburg to Farmville.

* Timing... rain will change to sleet... then snow through the
afternoon... from north to south.

* Impacts... snow and sleet will lead to hazardous travel
conditions.

* Winds... north 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... falling to 30 to 35 by dusk.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and sleet
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads
and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

... Rain mixing over to sleet and snow...

A mixture of rain... sleet and some snow will continue to move
east across the region into this evening. A light coating of snow
and sleet could occur mainly on grassy surfaces through 730 PM.

Some bridges and overpasses could become slick as temperatures
start to fall after sunset. Thus use caution while driving into
this evening.
