Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:43 PM EDT on July 07, 2015

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northern Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania...
northwestern Westmoreland County in southwestern Pennsylvania...

* until 145 am EDT

* at 1042 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain training over
northern portions of Allegheny and Westmoreland counties . This
will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pittsburgh... Penn Hills... Ross township... McCandless township...
Moon Township... Franklin Park... Vandergrift... Apollo... Shaler
township... Plum... Murrysville... Hampton township... Robinson
township... New Kensington... Lower Burrell... Harrison Township...
Economy... O'Hara township... Bellevue and Kennedy township.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.

Please report flooding by calling 4 1 2... 2 6 2... 1 9 8 8... posting
to the
NWS Pittsburgh facebook Page... or using twitter at nwspittsburgh.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday
morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of western Maryland... east central Ohio... southwest
Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

* Through Wednesday morning

* an approaching frontal boundary will bring moderate to heavy
rain across the watch area. Localized rainfall totals of 1 to
2 inches will be possible... which could cause flooding of
small creeks and streams as well as impacts to roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
