Spotty rain showers will persist from the east slopes of the Central Mountain chain over the east central and southeast plains through early afternoon. Before 1 PM most of the activity will be stretched from Mountainair and Estancia over Vaughn...Pastura...Santa Rosa... Fort Sumner and towards Tucumcari. Other showers will extend from near Arabela to Ramon...and between Hondo...Roswell and Dexter. A few showers and thunderstorms may develop north of Interstate 40. Movement will be generally in a northerly or northeasterly direction. Rainfall amounts will range from around one tenth of an inch in light showers to isolated amounts of one half inch to an inch in heavy showers and any storms. Motorists should expect to encounter ponding of water on roadways. Runoff could cause increased flows in low lying areas...arroyos...over low water crossings and other drainages.
